The ancient temple of Arulmigu Anuvavi Subramania Swamy Temple is located 12 kilometers away from the city of Coimbatore, which is considered the eye of the kingdom of Kongu, in a large lake, surrounded by lush green hills, on the northern side of the Marutha rains. History of the Temple In the Ramayana war, while a fierce battle is going on between the armies of Ravana and the armies of Rama, Rama's brother Lakshmana falls unconscious due to wounds sustained in the battle. The only way to save Lakshman's life is to use the herbal extract from the Sanjeevi Mountain, and Rama decides that Hanuman is the only hero who can find the Sanjeevi Mountain and bring the herb. Rama sends Hanuman to gather the herbs and bring them back. Hanuman, who does the task assigned by Rama, flies south and finds the Sanjeevi Mountain. Hanuman forgets the name and nature of the herb, completely moving the Sanjeevi Mountain and flying north in his van. When he comes through the mountain where Anubhav Subramaniar is currently standing, he becomes thirsty and cannot stop. Unable to go any further, Lord Muruga, who had come down at the request of Hanuman, pierced the mountain with his Thirukkai Vela and abundant water emerged from it. It is believed that he continued his journey by worshipping Subramaniar, who quenched Hanuman's thirst and gave him a party with Valli Deivanai. Thus, since he created a spring with his Thirukkai Vela to quench Hanuman's thirst, Anu (Anuman) got the name Vavi (spring) and became Anuvavi Subramaniar along with Valli Deivanai, granting the desired boon to the devotees who come to pray. As mentioned above, the water that Hanuman drank with Murugan's blessing with his Thirukkai Vela continues to flow as an inexhaustible spring even today.
