There are two types Poovarsh being more sacred where main festivals are conducted and Paluvarsh are the common worship places. Poovarsh have cylindrical walls with conical roof and Paluvarsh are parabolic in shape. Front wall of the temple is decorated with Toda art forms. Only priests are allowed inside the temple. The small size of the door makes anyone to bend and enter inside. The structure has no windows and is usually a single room. It is mainly to protect from the harsh weather of the hills and sudden attack from wild animals. Their huts are also constructed similar to the common Toda temple with grass, mud, stones and cow pat. Toda hamlets are called "mund" and every mund has a temple
