This temple is a Divya Desam as a part of Lord Azhagia Nambi temple at Thirukkurungudi.
This temple is on a hill that forms a part of Mahendragiri. This temple is at a distance of 8 km from Thirukkurungudi and one can travel only by 4-wheel jeeps available outside the Lord Azhagia Nambi temple at Thirukkurungudi.
Lord Malai Nambi is present here with Sridevi and Bhudevi. Lord Hanuman is believed to have leaped to Lanka to search for Goddess Sita from this mountain top.
The hill and the temple come under the Kalakkad Reserved Forest area and we need to obtain permission from the security at the entrance of the Ghat Road to the hill temple. The journey takes about 45 minutes to reach the hill top temple. The very place reverberates calmness and devotion.
However, the condition of the hill road is very pathetic. It is wrong to say that there is a road. A path is made out on the rocks and sand and only an experienced driver can negotiate the huge boulders and drive safely!
The rib-breaking journey makes one to have more faith on Lord Thirumalai Nambi, for He alone can guide the jeep driver to take us to the hill top temple and bring us back safely!
It is also possible to reach the hill top by walking through the same “road”!
