Morakkala Mana initially owned the temple, but the family's prosperity was challenged, and the day-to-day affairs were in question. The high priest finally approached the Maharajah of Cochin and handed the temple over to him in the 1930s. The King ordered the temple's renovation, and Nadumittom Devasom funded the Nithya Nidhanam (daily pooja). This state of affairs continued with minor changes until the Fall of the Kingdoms when India got Independence. Again the temple affairs were in disarray.
In 1953 the youth in and around the temple came together to better the temple, precincts, and restarted the temple festival. This movement strengthened up with time, involving in many activities. These people in 1963 formed the Thamaramkulangara Ayyapa Seva Samithy (TASS). TASS spearheaded a development campaign that drove a dramatic rise from obscurity to the center stage of the temple landscape in Ernakulam. In 1984 with others, the temple was transferred to Kerala Uranma Devaswom Board.

Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple is positioned in the royal city of Thrippunithura, Kochi district in Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. Devotees consider the Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple as an extension of the famous Sastha Temple at Chamravattom (Malappuram District). According to anecdotes, Lord Sastha of Chamravattom followed one of his Priests from Morakkala Mana, who had shifted to Tripunithura. Lord Sastha assumed the form of a lizard and came with the priest comfortably by sitting on his traditional umbrella made up of palm leaves. Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Danwantari, and this is the only temple in Tripunithura with Dharmasastha as the main deity. Besides, Dharmasastha devotees also worship Lord Ganesha and Bhadrakali along with Nagaraja and Brahmasrakshas.
