It is a rare form that Mother Vekkali Amman is seen with her left leg on the demon and the right bent.
- Sthala Puran
A Brahmin saved her at Utamacherry and took care of her. She delivered Karikal Peruvalathan in his house.
She was a staunch devotee of Vekkali Amman whose mercy protected her, and thus, the Chola dynasty survived.
People of Woraiyur are very grateful to Vekkali Amman and continue to worship Her as their protector Goddess for generations.
Of the many incarnations of Shakti, the Kali avatar is very significant. Mother Vekkali Amman graces us while majestically sitting on a Yoga Peeta facing north. She is holding a trident, Udukkai, the rope-pasam and Akshaya Patra (a vessel that can provide unlimited food) in Her four hands.
Bangles, Mangalsutra, a pearl chain, a necklace, and a crown on the head adorn her person. Her left leg is on a demon and the right is bent. There is no roof tower as the Shakti is on a plain ground.
- Architecture
