        Sthala Puran
        Swami: Ranganathar
        Mother: Ranganayaki
        Nomenclature:
Villupuram District, Gingee Circle, 4 km north of Gingee. In the distance is the village of Singavaram. The town was earlier known as Vishnu Gingee, Thiruppanri Kunram and Singapuram.
This temple is a beautiful temple located on a hill. It is said that the Pallava king Simha Vishnu built the temple between 570 and 620 AD (the source is called Mahendra Varman Temple) and later built during the reign of his son Mahendra Varman I.
        History:
It is said that the temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Varagar Temple before the 6th century AD, after which the Ranganathar Cave was carved.
There are 160 steps to go up the hill from the base of the temple. Going up the stairs, there is a three-tiered Rajagopuram, followed by the Varadaraja Perumal Temple. Varatha Raja Perumal Temple is said to have been built during the reign of Krishna Devarayar Gingee. Adjacent to the Varadaraja Perumal Sanctuary is the Tirukulam of Chandra Pushkarani. If you go inside through the home hall, there is the Ranganayaki thayar Sanctuary and the Durga Sanctuary. Durga is 24 feet long at the top and 10 feet wide with a sanctum sanctorum. The originator of this temple is said to be Ranganathar a larger figure than Thirupaarkadal Thirumal and Srirangam Aranganathar.
If you pass the mani mandapam of the Emperor, which has a temple on a beautiful cliff of natural beauty, you will see the arena as a treasure trove of art carved in a single stone. With a wooden step to the head in the south direction, Perumal is unique in that it has a school with bare feet in the north. With the head slightly tilted, the right forearm hanging down, and the right forearm folded upwards, showing the seal of the cross, and the five-headed Athiseshan on top of the head should be eye-catching to see the spectacular scene of the Anantha sayana thirukkolam.
They have carved this Perumal Thirumeni by smashing it in one stone. The biggest one can only be fully seen through the three gates. In the first stage one can see Perumal Thirumugam, Panchamuga Adiseshan on the top, Kandarva Brahma on the right thirukkaram, Napikkamalam and Mahalakshmi on the chest. In the central part you can see with Sreekar. In the third level you can see Thiruvadi, under which sages like Puma Devi, Naradhar, Prakalathan, Brigu, Atri.
        Sub-shrines:
Bhudevi can also see Sri Varadaraja Perumala in a separate sanctum with Sridevi. Mother Ranganayaki blesses her alone. There is also a statue of Sri Nikamantha Maha Desikan. Also, Chakradharvar, Ramanujar, Karutadharvar, Anjaneyar and Lakshmi Varakar have separate shrines.

        Mythological History:
Deshingurajan, who ruled Gingee with Iperumal, replied that he was going to war during the invasion of Malikpur in 1714. To which Perumal said that today is your Janma Star Day. So it is said that Deshingurajan I Chhatriyan, I have left for war, I will not put off the proposed morning, I will go to war, and Perumal turned his head to it. You can still see Ranganath`s face turned.
Also, there is a history that Srirangam Aranganathar (Ursavar) stayed in this temple for 1 year during the Muslim invasion. It is said in the book that it was brought from Srirangam to Gingerbread in 1370 by Gopanna, the ruler of Gingerbread, and then taken from Gingerbread to Srirangam in 1371 and dedicated (Thiruvarangan Ula). There is also inscriptional evidence for this.
        Major Festivals:
On Vaikunda Ekadasi in this temple, the opening of the Sorgavasal thirappu, Masi Brahmorsava Therottam and Masi Maga Tirthavari are some of the special festivals.
