        Sthala Puran

This temple has many specialities, the height of mollaviraat Sri Narasimha Swamy is upto 10 feet. It is located in the midst of forest. The Belly part of Moolavirat idol is soft as human skin.

There is a rockformed Ugra Anjaneya Swamy Statue near to the temple. There is a photo of it above in this post. It is the first of its kind known in South India. There is a continuous water flow near the temple, where its from the top of the hills. The temple has been renovated during Godavari pushkarams 2003.

It is believed that Sri Hemachala Narasimha Swamy is incarnated in a mountain of Valcano and that the body of the Lord has the same sensation as the human body.

Chintamani Jalapatham and Koneru near the temple draw has its water from the feet of the Lord.

When you touch the idol, the idol feels like human skin and is flexible like a human.

According to historical stories, demon king, Ravana, have given this place to his beloved sister a gift, Shurpanaka where the great Rama killed some 14,000 demons led by Khara Dushana. It was Agastya, the great sage who gave the current name to the sanctuary as Hemachalam. The faithful have shown that divinity, even if it is alone, illuminates the temple. But as the deity is placed with a golden goddess Lakshmi in his chest region, the deity assumes tranquility, thus diminishing the problems due to fire accidents. It is a divine wonder to see that the sandal in fluid form crosses the umbilicus of the great Sri Maha Vishnu.

        Alankar of Deity

The deity Narasimha Swamy is embodied from Volcano mountain. The priests say that Idol here is sensed as the human body with hair on the chest. If we touch the chest of the Idol with the forefinger, we can see the finger sinking into the rock without resistance. If we remove the finger we can find the trench formed due to pressing and leaving the impression on the chest. This is the specialty of the Hemachala Narasimha Swamy Temple. The Idol is 9.2 feet tall and produces water from the naval which is served as theertham for the devotees. Devotees believe that the water rescues them from the sins and diseases. The water flowing from the naval of the Maha Vishnu consists of Sandal and devotees come from far for this Chandana Dhravam.
