Mangaiyarkarasi, who is revered as the dawn of saiva samayam and the root of saiva samayam, was born in this town as the daughter of Mani Mudicholan. She was the wife of Koonpandian. Jainism became the religion of the Pandyan nation where the Pandyan king fell in the Jain pit. Mangaiyarkaraciyar knew that by the grace of Lord, Gnanasampanthaperumaan was going to all the places where there is enlightenment and singing hymns, and that the saiva temples were being revived and revived.

They invited Gnanasambandar to Pandya country through their minister Kulachiraiyar. The heat illness of the Pandyan king was cured by Gnanasamban. So, Gnanasambandar got the name Seer Nedumaran. The Saivam also stood upright there. The sage praises Mangaiyarkarasi as Valivalarkaimadamani and Valavarkonpa. Mangaiyarkarasiyar Gurupuja is held annually in the month of Chittirai on the star of Rohini.

Kulothunga Chola III wanted to build a large Shiva temple in the city of Mangaiyarkarasiyar, the birthplace of saivam. He learned and expanded the temple. He wanted to build the biggest Rajagopuram. The subsequent regime change and stopped the work from being completed.
Due to the curse of Datsun, the body of the moon got rotten. In this temple, he used to bathe in Tirukulam and worship the Lord. All of his lost arts were revived by grace of Lord Eason. He prays that the sick person will come to this temple and worship Eisen to recover from the disease as he had done to Eisen. He also prayed that the poor from good would come to Lord to worship and regain the lost riches. The moon has a name called Soman. Lord Somnath is called Soman because he worshiped and enjoyed immortal prosperity.

Lord Shiva of the south is the lord of our country. The Kailaya mountain was a plug as the pride of bearing the heritage belonged to itself. Similarly, Ravana was inserted by the strength of his shoulder and in this situation Parvati was having intercourse with the Lord. So, Lord Shiva wanted to resolve Parvati`s conspiracy and remove the arrogance of these two.

Ravana tried to take Kailaya hill, it shook. Due to this shake, Goddess Parvati got afraid and fled to Lord Shiva. So, Parvati`s intercourse was disappeared. Lord Shiva pressed the Kailash hill with his thumb for Parvati, the arrogance of Kailash disappeared. Ravana`s shoulder was also pressed by Kailaya hill due to Lord’s thump pressure. So, his arrogance also disappeared. Both Ravana and Kailaya hill worshiped Lord Shiva here. Also, It is the place of worship of Garuda and Adiseshan.
