- Sthala Puran
In 1990 a great divine saint set foot on this place at a very young age of 17 with a pledge to start a mission that would transform the social fabric of this region as well as to spread the message of spiritual living among the masses.
Even though this saint was very young to undertake a mission of such enormity, yet anyone who came to him was touched by his divinity and compassion and he firmly established his place in their hearts. The site chosen by this young saint for the dham had a small ancient hanumanji temple which was in a dilapidated state in the middle of the infamous ravines of chambal area. No one frequented this temple neither any worship was performed at its altars. In 1991 this young saint took a pledge to organize a yagya (hindu religious ceremony) that would heal the wounds of suffering that had been faced by the people of this region for a long time. This yagya was successful and it made people realize the effect of a pledge taken by a saint for the upliftment of humanity. As our curiosity gets better of us regarding the identity of this saint, he is none other than shri ravishankar ji maharaj who is the living embodiment of supreme consciousness.
Between the period of 1991-95 numerous spiritual, religious and humanitarian activities were performed under the supervision of divine master. In 1996, maharaj shri took another pledge to organize another yagya on a much bigger scale for world peace in memory of his guru brahamrishi Devraha Baba. Everyone thought that it was almost impossible to organize a religious event at such a large scale in such a remote location however maharaj shri proved all of them wrong and the grand event which was commemorated as the largest religious ceremony in Asia by BBC London was completed with great success.
