The Geruda pillar and the Rajagopuram in front of the temple are the symbol of Mannargudi and the symbol of Mannargudi Municipality.There are five Arulmigu Rajagopalaswamy Temples in Tamil Nadu but Rajagopalaswamy Temple is the Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy Temple which is popularly known as the Temple.This temple was built by Kulothungan I, a member of the Chola dynasty, in the first Afiya fields in AD.
