This temple by Deewan Rai Dwarkadassji for his residence. In Samvat 1795, the idol of Shri Mathureshji was installed here ceremoniously.
It so happened in Samvat 1795, the idol of Shri Mathureshji was brought to Kota. The chariot (cart) transporting this idol stopped infront of the haveli of the Rai Dwarkadassji, the Minister to the king of Kota. When the chariot did not move ahead despite all efforts made, Rai Dwarkadassji prayed to the Goswami Gopinathji that he presented his own residential palace (haveli) for the deity to be enshrined. After this, the chariot moved and went into the haveli where the idol is enshrined.
