Probably, Kanyakumari is the only place in the world where a confluence of three seas could be seen. This is the point where the Indian Ocean in the South, the Arabian Sea in the West and the Bay of Bengal in the east meet together. Nature’s beauty is in its full form here. During the full moon days, devotees and tourists can enjoy simultaneously the setting of the sun in the west and the rising of the moon in the east.

        Architecture

Gandhi Mandap:In the year 1948 the ashes of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was immersed in the sea confluence in Kanyakumari.  Before immersion, homage was paid to the ashes in the pot with flowers.  Gandhiji’s disciple Acharya Kripalani took efforts for the construction of a memorial for him.  The foundation stone was laid in 1954 and a beautiful Mandap came into being in the year 1956.  It is noteworthy that sunlight falls on the Peeta in the Mandap on the 2nd October of the year, the day of Mahatmaji’s birth.

Vivekananda Memorial: There are two great rocks in the eastern direction in the sea.  The bigger one measures about 3 acres and is 55 feet above the sea.  There is also a symbol on this rock in the shape of a foot which devotees believe to be that of the Goddess.  In the year 1892, Swami Vivekananda visited Kanyakumari, spent his time on the rock in deep medidation.  A Mandap is constructed on this rock in his memory.

Aiyan Thiruvalluvar: On the other rock, the statue of Thiruvalluvar is installed representing the minute skills in sculpture.  The tall statue is very beautifully designed and stands so majestically as if conversing with tides.  Boat conveyance is available to go and see the statue closely.  Indeed, a pleasant wonder.
