- Sthala PuranIthalam, popularly known as the Murthy Cauvery Theertham, is named after Lord Murugan as the Kangeyampalayam. At this place, the river Cauvery spirals on both sides and rises in the middle of the river. The temple is located in the shape of an Omkara on a cliff in the middle of the Cauvery. Ithalam is considered to be the Prithvi soil site of Kongu nadu as Lord siva is the lingam distilled in the sand by the Agathis in the Kongu Nadu Panchaputra sites Visitors to the temple have to cross the river Cauvery for about nine months of the year. The bridge is currently being built for the benefit of the people. The temple is located in the middle river between the two banks, hence the name Naduarthu Eswarar. This Nattatheswarar is not a lingam made by anyone. It is a lingam created and worshiped by Agathiyar for worship. In This temple Murugan is shown posing with his right leg forward and walking behind the middle. When Agathiyar came here to visit Lord Shiva, Murugan welcomed him in front of him and showed him the hill in the middle of the river. Having a parrot in his left hand is a different vision.
