There was always enmity between the three mighty rulers (Chozha, Chera and Pandya) of the erstwhile Tamil Kingdom. Once a Chozha king had planned to kill a Pandya king by presenting a dress laced with poison.
Lord Shiva came in the dream of the Pandya King and told him to not accept the dress.
As planned, when the two kings met, one of the Chozha soldiers presented the poisoned dress to the Pandya King. The Pandya King immediately threw the dress on the soldier. The soldier was immediately burnt and died. At the same time, the Chozha king lost his eyesight.
Thus, the Lord Shiva came to known as “Lord who blessed by avoiding the poisonous dress” (Nachadai Thavirthu Aruliya Swami)!
Temple address: Lord Nachadai Thavirtharuliya Swami, Devadanam, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District, Tamil Nadu.
