There is an idol of Upadeva Ganapati behind the Subramanya temple facing east. Legend has it that when Puri Muni Pashani visited, he had a vision of Subramanya Swamy. He said he would appear at the Peruvanam temple. A few days later, an unidentified boy was spotted on the northwest side of the temple. The boy who dug with the spear and the excavated place later turned into a temple pond and was placed by Subramanya Swamy at the place where the boy was seen.
