Mahathobhara Chintamani Shree Laxminarasimha Temple is situated on the bank of Nethravathi river at Kade Shivalaya village in Bantwal Taluk and is also famously known as "Narasimha Kshetra".

Uppinagangady in Dakshina Kannada is also called as "Gayapada Kshethra". It is the place where the holy rivers Nethravathi & Kumaradhara confluence and is said that deities Narsimha Swamy & Sahasralingeshwara reside togather as per the "Gayapa KShethra Mahatme." The story that narrates the history of Kade Shivalaya which is also known as "Narasimha Kshetra" in "Kade Shivalaya Mahathme" explains in details how this region got its name as "Kade Shivalaya" or "Anthya Shivalaya".

"Kade Shivalaya Mahatme" states that the Narasimha Temple at Kadeshivalaya is built by the King Veerabahu, son of an emperor Lokadithya who was administering the region of Mangalapura, a kingdom beside the wstern coastal region. After feeling himself guilty for the bad deeds he had involved, he got his sleeve valve chopped off before replacing it with the golden arm and administered the construction of the Narasimha Temple for which he got the title as "Sabahu". It also explains how an seer named Shandilya who lived at Ananthady worshiping Saligrama was successful to , make appear Lord Narasimha Swamy.
