Deviramma statue, facing south-east was arised between the rocks on the hilltop, it was found during 10th century. Later on originally found statue was replaced with the carved statue and installed to face east.
Deviramma is a incarnation of Chamundeshwari at Mysuru, Also there are stories of saying Chamundeshwari came to rest on the hilltop after destroying the demons (Madhu Kaitabha).
During 12th century, A sage (sanyasini) with the recommendation and guidance from the Guruji of Palahara Siddeshwara Swamy mutt, a place was identified and a temple for the Deviramma was built in the village, there are saying that temple was initially a hut covered with dry grass, some of information have been came to light with the help of an Astrologer from Kasargode through Ashtamangala Prashne.
Deviramma will be on the hilltop for only one day (Naraka Chathurdashi) and goddess will be at the temple in the village in all the remaining days throughout the year.
Devotees have been visiting the goddess on the hilltop, for the blessings on the day of Deepavali. worshipping on the hilltop is being allowed for only one day in the year.
During Deepavali Amavasya day, which is the next day of Naraka Chathurdashi, At the temple in the village, devotees welcome the goddess from the hilltop by placing a curtain on the opened door of the temple, when the wind moves and the curtain shakes, then it's been felt that Deviramma is back from the hilltop, this information used to be told as door opens automatically while goddess is returning back to the temple from hilltop.
Temple at the village used to be closed on the Deepavali (Naraka Chathurdashi) day, as goddess is believed to be being on the hilltop, but nowadays due to devotees requests, temple is being opened all days throughout the year.
During 18th century, Few people from the surrounding villages have been punished for their wrong-doings at Mysuru during the Wodeyar ruling, On the deepavali day the devotees of the goddess refused to have food and mentioned they are fasting on the occasion of Deviramma festival and they can see the light kindled on the hill in the evening. Wodeyar family started to follow the goddess since then.
There has never been any incidents of any sorts of snake bites at the village in the history, which goes back to centuries.
Temple at the village has been renovated to large extent around the year 2010.
