        Sthala Puran

According to the Hindu mythology, when Mahadeva danced around with Sati’s dead body cutting it to pieces, the lower lip fell at Fullara. There is a big pond beside the temple. According to hearsay, Hanuman collected 108 blue lotuses from the pond when Sri Ramachandra required them for the worship of goddess Durga. It is considered to be one of the fifty-one shakti peethas in India.

Being a Shakti Peeth, the history of Phullara temple is accociated with the Dakshya Yajna event and the self-immolation of Sati. After the corpse of the Goddess was mutilated by the sudarshan chakra od Lord Vishnu, the lower lip of the deity fell here to form the Attahasa Shakti Peeth. There was once a natural pond by the side of the idol which is not there anymore. Per legend, Prabhu Hanuman came to this pond to collect 108 blue lotuses when Ramchandra was about to worship Devi Durga.

        Architecture

There is no proper idol of the Goddess is consecrated. A stone of around 15 feet symbolizes the lower lip of Shakti. Here, the deity is worshipped as Maa Phullora which means Blooming. Along with Her, Lord Bhairav, Her consort is worshipped as Lord Vishwesh. An idol of Mahadev sitting on a lotus is created adjacent to the temple complex. Though the temple doesn't resembles grandeur, but the marble made edifice is aesthetically designed which is very pleasing for the onlookers. The overall ambiance is the place is very divine and tranquil that attracts tourists to explore the temple along with its religious significance.
