- Sthala PuranBhadra Kaliyamman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Kali located in Thiruvalangadu in Thiruvallur District of Tamilnadu. The Temple is closely associated with ThiruvalangaduVadaranyeswarar Temple. It is said that after being defeated in the dance performance by Lord Shiva, she stayed in this temple. Lord Shiva gave a boon to the presiding deity – Bhadrakali that the Kaliyamman should be worshiped before Lord Shiva. Kali Idol is granite stone idol and the feet of Kali, firmly planted on the ground, with the bells of a dancer around her ankles. Her face is turned upwards as if she is seeing a shooting star. She was gazing in awe at the feet of Shiva which had touched the clouds.
