Prahalad had very deep bhakti and saw Baghawan Narasimha everywhere. He is one of the highest examples which shows Bhagawan is there every nook and corner of each Anu (atom). As he can be there in non-living things even more true for living beings and humans.
Namaste (Namas + te) is derived from Sanskrit .” Nama” denotes ‘bow, obeisance, or worship’ , while “te” signifies ‘to you.’ Therefore, namaste means “bowing to you.”
It is to express “the divine and self are one in you and me,” and means “I bow to the Bhagawan in you.”
Namaste also referred to as namaskar, is a respectful greeting that acknowledges and welcomes a relative, guest, or stranger. It is an expression of huge respect, worship, and adoration in the Vedic and the Mahabharata. It conveys politeness, respect, dignity, and hospitality from one person to another. Namaste is a gesture used by a person to thank the other person for his or her kind compassion. It is used in goodbyes as well.
Anjali Mudra
- The gesture of folding hands during a Namaste is called the Anjali mudra. The Anjali mudra is one of the postures found in Indian classical dance, such as Bharatanatyam, and in yoga practise too. It is also found in Indian temple reliefs and sculpture in the mandapam, at doorways.
- The Anjali mudra is distinct from Namaste by being a non-verbal gesture, whereas Namaste can be stated with or without gesture.
- According to some scholars, Anjali mudra is slightly different from namaste. In Anjali Mudra the backs of the thumbs face the chest and are perpendicular to the other fingers, but in Namaskara mudra, the thumbs are aligned with the other fingers.
- The Natya Shastra describes it as a posture where the hands are folded together in a reverential state. The Anjali mudra should be put near or above one’s head for temple prayers, in front of one’s face or chin for meeting someone dignified, and at one’s breast for friends, according to the Natya Shastra.
As Namaste is a non-contact greeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that this gesture should be used as an alternative to handshaking during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, to prevent the virus from spreading.
